Meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by President Jon Hay. He then led us in the pledge of Allegiance.
There were 31 members present.
George Jenkins motioned, seconded by Bernie Saloman, that the Agenda published in the Newsletter be accepted. Parliamentarian Joe Wright stated that the members present should first be asked if they have any new business to discuss. This was accomplished and the motion to accept the agenda then passed.
Announcements:
President Hay stated that SRQ’s participation in the “Making Strides against Breast Cancer” has been cancelled.
Jon stated that he had been contacted by Hunsader Farms to see if SRQ was interested flying during the Hunsader Pumpkin Festival this year as we have done many times in the past. Jon will visit the farm to check on a suitable flying area.
Program:
Jon introduced Vince Veltri who in turn introduced Tom Casey of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders. Tom gave a very interesting talk on the famous event including events and training prior the actual raid and the hardships the crews went through after the raid. For those members who wish to become experts on the subject Tom recommended two books: “The Doolittle Raid” by Carroll V. Glines and “Destination Tokyo” by Stan Cohen.
Break
Bernie Saloman motioned, seconded by Joe Fast, that the minutes of the June Membership Meeting be accepted as published. Motion passed.
Neil Hansen presented the Treasurers report for June 2009 in the absence of Treasurer Dick Bobb. Some questions arose concerning raffle expenses. A motion to approve the report was tabled until the August 2009 membership meeting.
Old Business:
President Jon Hay reported that he had received a price quotation from David Speed for upgrading the Flight simulator. The price is less than the amount approved at the June membership meeting. The required items will be purchased and the Simulator will be operational soon.
Jon reported that David Speed had also researched the problem concerning the cap blow off on our water line. The cost of a permanent cap is $300. Vince Veltri motioned, seconded by Neil Hansen, that $300 be expended to buy a permanent cap. Motion passed.
New members Sara Garofalo and her son Ross were introduced.
Show and tell:
Gene Payson of Troy Built Models discussed a number of new products that he will be carrying including a line of ARF scale planes. He also showed an Ignition filter that is designed to plug into an output channel of a receiver and then into the power source of the ignition system, thus using a single battery to power both the radio system and the ignition system.
George Jenkins showed pictures of a 120 inch Super Shock Jet also by Troy Built Models. He also displayed a number of small items that he felt were useful to the average modeler.
Jon Hay discussed how a soldering gun can be used to test an electronic ignition system by using the magnetic field of the gun to excite the ignition system.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25pm.
