Steve Sundheimer reviewed the changes to the Membership Manual with the Board. There are some minor changes that need to be addressed. A preliminary final version will be created in a PDF format and distributed to all Board members for review. Fred Bigio is a graphic artist and will help in designing the covers, layout, advertising, etc. The Board thanks Steve for all of his work on the manual.
New Business:
Al Jensen showed the Board the proposed new membership badge for 2012. The design was approved.
President Jantzen discussed several safety issues with the Board. During the discussion a motion was made and seconded to add a rule to the membership manual requiring all turbine flights to have a qualified spotter next to the pilot during the entire flight. A qualified spotter shall be a current AMA member who is at least 18 years of age. The motion passed.
Al Jensen presented a new membership application form. The new form reduces the number of data points required in our ever growing data base, is shorter, and cleaner. The new form was approved.
A question of whether SRQ may have Associate Members that are non flying, non-voting, and do not belong to the AMA was raised. The concern is it may affect the club charter. David Speed will contact AMA to seek clarification.
