Meeting Minutes
May 21st, 2008
Meeting called to order at 7:10pm. Commander John Hall led the group in the pledge to our flag. He then called the roll and there were 13 members present.
Ops Officer Vince Veltri read the minutes from the April meeting. Motion to accept by Jim Martin, second by Bernie Saloman motion passed.
Executive Officer Ed Buchholz gave a treasury report. There is a balance of $XXX after all income and expenses for Air Fair 2008 have been accounted for.
Net income for Air Fair ’08 was $XXX. Motion to accept the report by Mike Winter,
2nd by Bill Kimbrell. Motion passed.
Old Business: Mike gave a report on Air Fair. There were 43 pilots, we cleared a small profit and the meet was deemed a success! Nick Ziroli commented on the timing of the event, a week prior to Top Gun, and the positive response we got from all the visiting fliers. Our club field and membership was very well received by all who visited our site for the first time. It was generally agreed by all that we keep that date for future Air Fairs.
Dave Barry suggested that we try to get the same dates for next year as soon as possible
To precede Top Gun by one week.
New Business: Vince asked if it was not too early to plan on our annual swap meet.
Vince made a motion to hold the swap meet on Saturday November 1, second by Bernie
Saloman, motion passed. We will ask SRQ for permission to hold the meet at the next scheduled general meeting.
Show and Tell: Dave Barry showed the cowl louvers from his latest project an SE 5A from the Balsa USA kit.
Ed Buchholz showed his landing gear actuator his new P-39 which will actuate a cooling fan for the enclosed engine, as well.
Bill Kimbrell gave a report on the Joe Nall fly in. Most everything was WW1 or 3D ARF’s. Seems that 2.4 is the dominating choice of radios. This was the case at Top Gun, as well.
Charlie Pangburn won the 50/50. The being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:04.
