Meeting Minutes
March19, 2008
Meeting was called to order by Executive Officer Ed Buchholz at 7:10pm.
There were 9 members present. Ed then led the group in the pledge to our flag.
Squadron Commander John Hall and Operations Officer Vince Veltri were absent.
Mike Winter volunteered to record the meeting minutes. Mike read the minutes of the February meeting. Nick Ziroli motioned seconded by Jim Martin that the minutes be accepted as read. Motion passed.
Operations Officer Ed Buchholz presented the treasures report for the previous month. There were no changes from last month. He then summarized the fiscal aspects of the past several years. Lewis Vaughan motioned seconded by Phil Bender that the report be accepted as presented. Motion passed.
OLD BUSINESS
CD Mike Winter summarized the status of Air Fair 2008 which will be held on April 19 & 20, 2008. John Hall is working on the raffle prize. SRQ will operate the Runway’s End café. The CAP of the Sarasota Military Academy will handle parking of the spectator cars. Final work assignments will be discussed at the April 16th meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
The Hobby Shop in Port Charlotte is holding a Swap Meet on Saturday, March 22nd. Several members will be attending.
The King Orange Scale Masters Qualifier will be held on Memorial Day weekend May 23rd and 24th. It is sponsored by The Bay City Fliers. Several members are driving up Friday evening. Hotel phone number is (813)345-2000. If you want to fly in the Scale Master Championships, which will be sponsored by SRQ in October, this is the place to qualify!! Unless you want to join the Nats convoy.
SHOW AND TELL
David Barry showed his Saito 36, 4 cycle, gas engine which develops 3.3 horse power turning a 18x8 propeller. It will power a Balsa USA ¼ scale SE-5a which Dave has already framed up.
