GALLERY

ONE OF THE SUGGESTIONS THAT I RECEIVED WHEN I FIRST PUBLISHED THIS SITE WAS THE ADDITION OF A SECTION CALLED GALLERY CONTAINING THE OBVIOUS i.e. PICTURES OF SRQ MEMBERS DOING THEIR THING.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PICTURE PUBLISHED HERE JUST CLICK  AND E-MAIL ME SOME STUFF.

IF NOBODY CONTRIBUTES YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH WHAT I CHOOSE.

Bill Kimbrell flew his Airbike today 10/27/2011. It flew great. This was his “Show & Tell” aircraft at two membership meetings. His wife is still working on the attire for the pilot. Al Jensen

The Cape Coral R/C Hawks held their annual "Gathering of the Giants" this past weekend. Conditions were perfect, the temperature was in the low 80's, clear blue sky. the wind was down the runway and there were lots of fantastic looking aircraft. The B-29, with the droppable rocket plane, that performs at Top Gun put on two shows on Saturday with the intent to repeat on Sunday, was there. The SRQ turn out was a little on the light side. Ed Buchholz, Jamie Garrett, John Hall, Scott Kamrath, Roger Niolet and Mike Winter made it down on Saturday. I did not make it on Sunday so cannot speak to that. Roger brought a tent which provided much needed shade. He also brought a cooler full of hoagies, goodies and drinks. Thanks Roger. A great time was had by all.

The saga of Brad Fuller's B-17 continues......

I didn't like the factory cowls, they are too square, and cost $50.00 each! These cost about $1.75 each, are more curved, like the real plane. Pic#1 is the mold I made...pic#2 shows the 6 layers of glass in the mold...pic #3 is the mold opened up to expose the new cowl...pic#4 is after the excess glass is trimmed off, and the Top Flight fake radials that fit right in. ..and pic#5, As Gomer used to say"SHAZAM!", a perfect fit cowl. These will look great with the engine  detailed, and the 14" 3 blade props installed.  The Saga continues....Brad

Hi Mike

I hope this finds all well. Attached are some stills of my latest project. This is a 1/4 scale version of the L-3 Viking 300 UAV, which is what I fly for work. The full-scale V-300 is 202in span, 300lbs t/o weight. I built a half-scale for the company to use as a trainer, and test flew it at SRQ last October with great success. I wanted a smaller version for my personal use to keep in practice, so I settled on a quarter-scale model. Span is 50.5", and it is a scale model in every detail, save the power plant and a few details that just didn't shrink that well. As such, in addition to being able to fly it as my trainer, it is a Warbird, a scale aircraft, and correct me if I am wrong, IMAA legal at 1/4th actual size. Quite the package powered by an OS CVA .15. I have included provisions for a pan/tilt camera and the downlink, and a Procerus autopilot system if I wish to make the conversion to UAV. For now, Futaba 2.4 is the guidance.
If I am able, you can see it at the meeting next Wed. Feel free to share these with our members, and cheers!

Respectfully,

Received from Vince Veltri:

First flight yesterday, Sunday morning, at the SRQ club field. Thanks to Ed Buchholz, Roger Niolet, Nick Ziroli and the man behind the camera, Paul Jantzen. Just a couple of trim inputs and the plane flew really well. One of the highlights of the day was a congratulatory handshake from the designer, Nick Ziroli, Sr.

The link below will take you to a brief video taken by Roger Niolet on his Android phone.

Neil Hansen displays his latest model, A giant scale Twin Electric Otter. The military version of the Otter designated UV-18, is a modified De Havilland DHC-6. The USAF cadet Academy used it for Parachute training. The Model is a new ARF from Hanger 9. It can be assembled with Glow or Electric power. An E-Flight power 25 is recommended but this one has two E-Flight Power 32 Motors, running on two 4S 5000 mah Lipo Batteries. The props are counter-rotating 12x8’s.Wing Span is 82 inches and it weighs 13 Pounds. It flies beautifully. The straight high wing makes is easy to land with the help of flaps.
