SRQ MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES
 
January 2016
  • President Sundheimer called the meeting to order at 7:10pm. Without access to the inside meeting room, the meeting began in the rear of the building. The inside room became available at 7:20pm and the meeting continued. 26 members were in attendance.

  • Pres Sundheimer’s Report:

    • It will be addressed to Twin Lakes management our concerns and disappointment that the meeting room was not available for our scheduled day and time. A search for other meeting facilities will be entertained.

    • The FAA requires that all RC pilots register and each SRQ approved flying plane/helicopter be identified with registration number.

    • The current membership is 258.

    • Due to the late start and facility, the December minutes and treasurer’s reports were postponed till the February membership meeting.

    • The engine sound rules have been altered that all two (2) stroke gas engines be DB tested.

  • Maintenance:

    • Dick Bobb reported the gate has been repaired.

    • Two new security cameras have been installed.

  • Installation of 2016 Board of Directors and Officers:

    • Vince Veltri graciously recognized the 2015 outgoing officers and installed the 2016 board members and officers.

  • New Business:

    • The following dates were approved for the field events:

      • April 23-24, 2016 Dec. 3, 2016.

    • Dave Hasler is investigating Fun Fly options & dates.

  • Program:

    • Frank Kagele gave a fascinating personal history of his and his associates developing transmitters, servos and receivers in the 1960’s. Frank’s plans and the plane of the Liberty 7 was on display.

  • Drawing:

    • A GMS 76 engine was raffled and won by Pat Grella.

  • The meeting was adjourned at 8:36pm

  • President Steve Sundheimer called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. All board members present.

  • PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

    • Pres Sundheimer commented on the observation that too many club members do not recognize the seriousness of the noise issue threatening the closing of the field. The issue needs continuous reinforcement to membership.

  • VICE PRESIDENT REPORT:

    • VP Dave Hasler advised the board that Al Jensen has two (2) prizes available for membership meeting raffles:

      • New (in a box) .76 GMS engine

      • Slightly used Pilatus PC9 with .46 engine

    • Future programs to be announced prior to meetings.

    • VP is approaching long-time and experienced members for their show-and-tell / presentations. Goal is to improve membership meetings attendance.

  • SECRETARY’S REPORT:

    • No corrections or changes were offered to the December 2015 BOD minutes.

  • TREASURER’S REPORT:

    • Treas M. DeRoy presented December, 2015 financials. No corrections or changes.

    • The 2015 YTD Budget vs Actual will be presented at the February BOD meeting and then to members at 2/24/16 membership meeting.

  • COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN AND REPORTS:

    • MEMBERSHIP:

      • M. DeRoy reported 2016 membership as of 1/4/16: 249 paid.

    • A search by the board is priority to replace Al Jensen, who has led this effort for 10 years. His service as membership chairperson is recognized and appreciated. It has been his commitment to detail and follow-up that we will remember.

  • MAINTENANCE:

    • Dick Bobb reported that a fire extinguisher was found extinguished on the property. It has been replaced. Also, unescorted youngsters were trespassing in the OPS building and were told of their unauthorized attendance. They left understanding their unacceptable behavior.

    • David Speed and Bobby Silvia repaired the broken gate mechanisms. The gate is activated by motion, so driving up close to the road edge is advised. Two (2) new cameras have been installed replacing out-of-service equipment.

  • SAFETY:

    • One safety officer must be a current board member and recorded with AMA. Dave Struop will assist.

  • OLD BUSINESS:

    • The defibrillator repairs and upgrades are complete and being shipped to M. Cameron to re-install. Thanks to Mike for handling this project.

    • The county’s response to our efforts in controlling the noise issue has been favorable. Members are also cooperating. Pres Sundheimer is preparing an email to the membership detailing the noise issues, clarification of engine DB testing. A motion and second was approved to send by January 15, 2016.

    • VP Hasler discussed and asked for input in developing new (and old) field activities – Fly-Ins, Fun Fly’s, Corvin Miller, Club Picnic, Golden Eagle events, etc.

  • There being no further business, Pres Sundheimer adjourned the meeting at 8:35PM.
