SRQ BOARD MEETING MINUTES

December 7, 2015
  • President Paul Jantzen called the meeting to order at 7 pm all members being present with the exception of Andy Novatzke. Also present at the meeting were the newly elected board members for 2016 ,Dick Bobb, David Speed, Al Miller, and Keith Dennis.

  • To begin the meeting Pres Jantzen recognized board member Vince Veltri who described to the Board a recent phone call he received from a woman complaining about the noise, that she believed to be excessive, coming from a model being flown from our field. After the phone call Vince drove up to the field and found that the offender was someone who has been warned formally by the Board about the loudness of his flights. Since some of our present Board members have served in various positions over what amounts to a period of close to ten years, a number of those present this night attested that this individual’s infractions have been habitual and unceasing and that they go back for what amounts to years. The Board discussed this problem at length and decided unanimously to take action against this member in the form of a summons before the Board in which he will be warned for the last time along with an assurance that one more infraction will cause the Board to expel him from the club.

  • Presidents Report:

    • The recent Warbirds event turned out well in spite some pretty bad weather conditions with winds gusting up to 25mph. Twenty-four pilots registered for the event, thirteen of which were from other clubs. The club turned about $XXX in profit and a fairly good crowd of visitors showed up to watch.

    • Next Pres. Jantzen once again pointed out that there had been a few other occasion where flyers were not staying inside the prescribed flight box. He again stressed the importance of all members watching for these violations and when observed, calling it to the attention of the offending flyer.

    • The new formatted county lease has been presented to the club and will soon be studied by the board.

  • Treasure’s Report:

    • Martin DeRoy presented the Board members there present with the financial statement for November. The Board then moved to accept the treasure’s report as presented and It was unanimously accepted.

    • Martin also announced that the club membership now stands at 291 members and that so far 191 members have paid their dues for the coming year.

  • Old Business:

    • The club still has two security cameras not operating. Dave Speed and Andy Novetzke are working towards solving this problem.

    • The defibulator has been removed from the operations shack and will shortly be sent off for maintenance. Thanks to John Hay for his help in moving this chore along.

    • The subject of the runway extenders discussed in an earlier Board meeting was brought up once more. There has been little movement on this improvement and it was generally agreed among those present that this project can only move forward if volunteers step up with both money and labor to see it happen.

  • New Business:

    • None

  • There being no further business Pres Jantzen adjourned the meeting at 7:42pm
