  • President Jantzen called the meeting to order at 7:06 with 18 members in attendance. He then called on Mike Winter to lead those in attendance to the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • Presidents Report:

    • The key pad for the county gate no longer functions and the gate now opens and closes automatically. In the case of our park the gate will close at 8:00 but beginning in November it will close automatically at 6:00. Because of this Pres Jantzen strongly recommends that late flyers be out the gate by no later than 7:00pm. Since automatic systems such as this have some chance of glitching he recommends that members give themselves this margin of time so as not to risk being trapped in the park until the following morning.

    • The maintenance building combination has been changed. Those that will now have that combination will include board members, those individuals flying jets, and those who are checked out on the ATV. If any member can show cause why he should have the combination contact Dick Bobb.

  • The President then called for a motion to accept the minutes for July as published. The motion was made, seconded, and passed without discussion.

  • President Jantzen then recognized Martin DeRoy for the treasurer's report. That report was presented and a motion was made to have it published as presented. The motion was made and seconded and was voted in unanimously.

  • Chairman Reports:

    • The only report offered at this time was that of the director of training who reported that there was still only one student in training but that another was scheduled to begin next week.

  • Old Business:

    • There was no old business brought up.

  • New Business:

    • Jim Martin was recognized and he rose to announce that MCRC will hold a fly in on the 26th mad 27th of September. He further announced that the proceeds raised from that event would go as a donation for cancer research .There will be a $15 registration fee for the event which will be held at the MCRC field in Palmetto. For more information about this worthy event check our website.

    • Also Jim Martin announced that Corvin Millers award winning Swift is being offered for sale. This is the same model that won Top Gun some years back and is being offered for a price of $2000. Anyone having any interest in this plane should contact Jim Martin. A picture of this plane is in the trophy case in the club house.

  • Entertainment:

    • Vince Veltri showed an interesting video presentation (Below) dealing with methods of dealing with cross wind landings which featured real aircraft. This presentation was very interesting and well received.

  • President Jantzen Called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm all members being present with the exception of Steve Sundheimer.

  • Invited guest for the evening was member Dr. Oscar Hernandez.

  • President's report:

    • No issues or discussions brought up.

  • Officers Report:

    • No issues or discussions brought up.

  • Treasurer's Report:

    • Treasurer Martin DeRoy presented his financial report which after the appropriate motion and second was given was approved by the Board.

  • Old Business:

    • All security cameras are now functioning and it was suggested that one more camera would be a good idea facing west so as to record people and cars leaving the premises.

    • The Defibulator has been identified as to make and model and we are awaiting further contact with the manufacturer.

    • The fact was brought up and discussed that the AMA will present members with a rate hike next year. The new membership fee will be $85.00. If members choose to join before November and buy a two membership they will save some money.

    • The security on the maintenance building was brought up and it was pointed out the the new combination which will have limited distribution has yet to be changed. Assurances were given that That situation would be soon remedied.

  • New Business:

    • President Jantzen raised the discussion with a SRQ member that the db level of 75 in the air and 104 on the ground was especially difficult with very large models with very large engines. These models seem to have become a special problem. Since the SRQ member owns a number of these aircraft he was invited to comment on what might be done to solve the problem. President Jantzen suggested that if the problem could not be solved that it may be necessary to restrict the use of larger engines. It was pointed out by a board member that that the individual owner has the total responsibility to assure that his aircraft meets the db guidelines regardless of engine size or type or propeller size or type. The member has solved the problems on a number of his aircraft with three bladed props and canisters. While these modifications are doubtless effective to some degree, it was agreed by all present that vigilance on all aircraft by each member is the key to success; but in the final analysis responsibility for aircraft noise lies solely with its pilot.

  • There being no further business President Jantzen adjourned the meeting at 7:40 pm
