January 28th, 2015

  • The meeting was called to order by President Jantzen and Mike Winter began by leading those assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • President Jantzen then announced that The Venice Veteran's Gala will occur on the 15th of February. This event, similar to our own Senior Friendship Center Veterans celebration in which some of our members provided a display of Scale Warbirds. The chairman of this upcoming event heard about our display and is asking our members to help with a similar display in the Venice event . This event will happen between the hours 2pm to 5pm on the above date. The models that they are requesting mainly would be of Korean War Vintage. Anyone I interested in participating can contact Paul Jantzen for further information.

  • Jim Martin was then recognized and announced that the Collins Foundation B-17, B-24 and P-51 will be coming to Venice on the 13th,14th and 15th of Feb. Here is a chance to get up close and personal with some beautifully restored WW2 war birds.

  • Al Jensen was then recognized and announced that Brad Fuller is still hospitalized after a week of treatment. The club will be sending a get well card ASAP.

  • Jim Holliman was then recognized and announced the on the 13th ,14th and 15th of March MCRC will hold it's annual BIG BIRD FLY IN.

  • President's Report:

  • Pres Jantzen told the members that a Milwaukee 18 volt drill has been taken by somebody and has not been returned. The drill is worth about $300 and if the drill is returned there will be no questions asked.

  • The road paving is now projected by the County to be complete sometime in April.

  • The minutes for the previous month's meeting were then approved by the members there present and entered into the record.

  • Pres. Jantzen then was informed that since treasurer Martin DeRoy had been operated upon the morning of the meeting there would be no treasurers report until next meeting.

  • Al Jensen then rose to announce that the current membership of the club stands at 256. Al then presented a solo certificate to student Pete Fulco along with the congratulations of the members there present.

  • Pres. Jantzen then announced that Training Coordinator Karl Ziegler, because of business demands, has stepped down from that position and will be replaced by Mike Cameron.

  • Pres. Jantzen then announced that there had been two recent complaints of noise raised against our field. He pointed out that noise testing has begun in earnest and that the club will insist on real compliance as set down in our bylaws. Also he pointed out that the same will be true of boundary compliance . With this in mind he called on John Hay to present a new muffler product now being offered by TBM. This product amounts to a small plug which fits into the muffler stack which works with great effect without significant power loss .The product is available in different sizes and sells for around $20.

  • There being no further business Pres. Jantzen adjourned the meeting at 8:22pm.

  • President Jantzen called the meeting to order at 7:05pm all members being present except for secretary Mike Cameron. Dick Bobb was also present as a guest.

  • The presidents report discussed the renewal of the facility lease and that all members be aware of possibly jeopardizing the clubs franchise of the clubs field.

  • The two important issues which are paramount are

    • sound violations

    • flying out of the box

  • The secretary's report

    • The November membership meeting minutes and the December Board meeting minutes were approved and entered into the record.

  • The Treasure's

    • December financial report was then presented and approved and entered into the record. The treasurer then presented the 2015 budget for the board's approval and was accepted and entered into the record.

  • The President and the board then decided on three new safety officers and they are

    • Don Janssen

    • Dave Stroup

    • Andy Novetzke

  • President Jantzen opened discussion on FPV signs to be replaced.

  • David Speed and Andy Novetzke will review and reprogram our security cameras.

  • Guests requiring entry code are to be told that club members must be present if they wish to fly, SRQ will continue to allow Venice club members to fly at our field even though Venice will no longer extend that same courtesy to us.

  • Steve Sundheimer agreed to review stock in the maintenance shed with Dick Bobb.

  • A motion was made and seconded to hire private landscape/maintenance contractors every few months as needed.

  • There being no further business President Jantzen adjourned the meeting at 8:00 pm.
